The game takes place centuries after Kingdom Hearts Union X and after the events of the Keyblade War. Kingdom Hearts Dark Road was released on 22nd of April 2020 and was focused on Masters Xehanort and Eraquss time at Scala ad Caelum. Nomura said there were already hints left that players can use to theorize what kind of answers they might receive in the future update. The announcement of the anniversary of the event, which has been watched, was later shown with the emphasis on the picture of the magic mirror.
They are both sitting by the fire on Destiny Island and the hooded figure said there’s still so much left to tell. The ending scene sees a mysterious hooded figure and a baby Xehanort.
The final chapter will be Scala ad Caelum, an area that can’t be visited freely at the mainline games. Director Tetsuya Nomura stated that a lot of mysteries will be resolved and revealed in the upcoming update.
